But will intervening in one universe resolved the anguish in his life?

Like intersecting railway tracks, the paths of Laurel, incredulous by nature, and Noah, plagued by self-destructive drinking, cross at Canaan Heights. They encounter formidable enemies in Priscilla Cochran and Winston Effingham, partners in an empire reaching beyond the guise of building a new community. It is more a tale than a self-help book. This book is similar to Eat, Pray, Love in that it deals with Women in Transition. It is in the genre of The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari by Robin Sharma, or The Way of the Peaceful Warrior by Dan Millman, but with a completely unique voice; this book is decidedly female. Its voice will appeal to women who want a "light read with an amazing message." It has elements of fun ‘chick-lit’ reading but with a powerful life-altering message. It is a perfect book for women new to personal growth or women who are well advanced on the path. In essence, it is the ideal bibliotherapy read for a rainy Sunday afternoon, but one that will continue to provide insight and support long after the last page is read.

ABOUT THE BOOK
CONTENTS
Prologue
Chapter 1 – The Dream
Chapter 2 - The Guide
Chapter 3 – Visualization
Chapter 4 - Goal Setting
Chapter 5 – Be Happy NOW
Chapter 6 – Love and Compassion
Chapter 7 – Forgiveness
Chapter 8 – Gratitude
Chapter 9 – Connecting to the Source
Chapter 10 –I AM
Epilogue
Appendix – A Guide to the Tools for Transformation

SELLING POINTS
•	A Woman’s Guide to Transformation is full of useful and easy to use tools that can make a difference in any person’s life.
•	It is written in a style that makes it easy and fun to read - even for women new to this information.
•	It is written in a very down to Earth style so that even women who are adverse to the “Self-Help” genre will find it entertaining and informative.
•	A Woman’s Guide to Transformation delves into many topics popular in culture today: Positive Psychology, Women In Transition, the Power of Positive Thinking.

THE MARKET
•	Genre:	Self-Help; Body/Mind/Spirit
•	Market:	Middle-aged women
•	Benefit:	Women of all ages
•	Titles:	Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert; Jonathan Livingston Seagull by Richard Bach, The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari by Robin Sharma, or The Way of the Peaceful Warrior by Dan Millman

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
•	Born in the San Francisco Bay Area and educated at UC Berkeley, Patti Clark moved to New Zealand in 1992. I pitched to her because I found this entry in the “New Year’s Resolutions” posted on her blog while I was researching information about the conference: “ To buy at least one (but hopefully more than one) superlative work of narrative nonfiction.” So I feel pretty good that she asked to look at the proposal for Larger than Life: Living in the Shadows of Elephants and that she gave me helpful advice on structuring the proposal. Oh, and she also said when I query agents I should write somewhere in the first paragraph that an excerpt from the book, “Trunk,” received Special Mention in Pushcart, 2008. Ms. Walker has since moved to Senior Editor at Penguin Books, but Reagan Arthur has added “adventure memoir” to her list of wanted submissions.

Larger than Life takes you deep into the lives of an incredibly majestic species in a rich and vanishing world, a world we feel in our souls when we look into another creature’s eyes. I didn’t need radio collars or binoculars or even a 4-wheel drive vehicle to study elephants. They were as close as an eyelash, companions who allowed me to join their herd.

Jabu, Morula, Thembi – and their herd mates Doug and Sandi Groves – live in Botswana’s Okavango Delta, a 5,500 square mile river delta the size of Massachusetts, an unparalleled ecosystem with an ark-full of animals. Adopted as orphans from culling operations, the elephants spend their days as most elephants do: strolling and eating. But they are also ambassadors between the elephant world and the human world. Invited by Doug and Sandi to stay in their camp and research this book project, I found myself reflecting on the personalities and habits of three charismatic elephants, on elephants I observed in other countries (Namibia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Tanzania and Kenya), and on an underlying question I brought to Africa: what can a trio of elephants teach humans about rejoining the rest of the world?

In fifteen chapters and 350 pages, illustrated with my own black & white photographs, Larger than Life blends the unprecedented experience of living in an elephant herd with the sights, the sounds, and smells of Africa. Written in a first person, observational point of view, each page of Larger than Life embeds the reader right next to an elephant. Spread over a series of seven days, Larger than Life chronicles my interactions with the elephants, with their habitat and with other inhabitants of the Okavango Delta – inhabitants such as dung beetles, “Go-away” birds, hyenas, baboons and lions. The book also includes footnotes and a bibliography.

Walk with me. Stroll with three unfettered and unfenced elephants in a world where the thin-skinned sky is a bare reminder that the earth is covered with air, where clouds stampede as if chased by lions - a world without asphalt, without cell phones, without that strange human notion of time.

Thanks very much for your consideration.

Old Flames

http://www.waenetwork.com/opensocial/ningapps/show?appUrl=http%3A%2F%2Fapps.io%2Flistings%2F%3Fning-app-status%3Dnetwork&owner=1x1wkyhk8nw7l&view_l=28

Type “classmates” into your browser and websites offering to find your old lover will pop up faster than you can say, “Old flames.” A sizzling new trend and the latest feel-good fantasy, finding old flames is a hot escape for those who still have embers glowing in their heart for a past love.
In my new book, Old Flames Burn Hottest: True Tales of Love and Obsession, I share tales of women and men who have searched for past lovers. The fires of hostility, contempt and hatred for women soldiers burn fiercely in our Armed Forces. Women soldiers are being sexually abused/raped by their side-by brothers, commanders and doctors with the protection and support of the military.

Women Under Fire: Abuse in the Military shows how our military leadership discounts, hides and changes the evidence of violent crimes in order to protect their image, while destroying the health and careers of valuable women soldiers. Cover-ups like the Penn State sexual abuse of children and Catholic Church abuse scandals.

Women Under Fire: Abuse in the Military describes in graphic detail the culture of abuse that is evident in each of the military services and exposes the “good old boys” system that created and supports it. The collusion extends to the military police, high-ranking officials, the military justice system and the courts, which punish women while rewarding and promoting rapists and abusers. This book makes an impassioned plea for accountability at all levels of the military, for positive change, unbiased congressional investigations into all the military services, and justice for women serving.

I am a nurse psychotherapist and served as an operating room nurse in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps 12th Evacuation Hospital, Cu Chi, Vietnam, during the height of the fighting in 1967.
